What else do you offer besides loans?

NHS offers free counseling services to people who are considering buying a home in lackawanna county. We have a Home Buyers Training course, offered monthly, which is required of all our buyers. This course teaches buyers how to work with a Realtor to make an offer on a house as well as essential skills such as budgeting and assessing their housing needs to ensure long-term success in home ownership.

We also offer a Leadership Training program that will help build leadership skills among neighborhood residents, making them even more valuable to their communities. Each year, six neighborhood residents create a Community Leadership Team. The team travels to Baltimore, MD for a four day training program. The team then chooses an outreach program and implements the program throughout the year, engaging other community leaders and residents.

This year, Diane Wyman, Southside Scranton, will serve as the team coordinator for 2007.
